    Notes:
Hi guys, Gavin here. Peter is in Toowoomba right now and so it has fallen to me to bring you the notes for this week’s In-Joke Podcast. This podcast (and notes) contain spoilers for the Indiana Jones movies, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Citizen Kane.

    Notes:

    • This podcast is full of spoilers for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
    • Was actually recorded on Wednesday (just!).
    • Gavin’s performance was actually quite good.
    • Citizen Kane was not a sled, Rosebud was.
    • Please email any ridiculous superpowers that you’d like explained to peter@thechainsawblokes.com, I will explain them in next week’s podcast.
    • Gavin meant to say “Decapitated” or “Dismembered” rather than “Dislocated”.
    • From movie-mistakes.com:
“Plot hole: We are told in the film that the Conquistadors stole the skull. However, since Indiana has to use the skull to open the tomb that it came from, it would have been impossible for the Conquistadors to have opened the tomb to steal it in the first place.”
    • By “dead Jabba the Hutts” Peter meant the mummified corpses of the Conquistadors.
    • Gavin was wrong; it was 6 months, not 10 years, since Oxley had found the skull. There were just some very busy spiders in Peru.
    • However, he was right in saying that Mary was not married to Oxley.
    • The diamond shards and golden shotgun are references to a previous podcast.
    • Temple of Doom had magical Sankara stones, and a guy that could rip people’s still beating hearts out of their chests.
    • The god was Kali Ma, not Shiba or Shiva.
    • I was unable to find any evidence of Henry Jones Sr. having a state-themed nickname.
  • The In-Joke Podcast #3 - Bible Fanfiction

Peter and Gavin discover and share some “Bible Fanfiction”. Hilarity ensues!

    Notes:

  • The In-Joke Podcast #2 - Flu Edition

Despite both having the flu, Peter and Gavin soldier on and podcast nonetheless.

    Notes:

    • Ross Noble is from Cramlington, not Liverpool.
    • Ray Liotta played Tommy Vercetti in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. He was not in The Sopranos or any of the Godfather movies; the role that Gavin was thinking of was Martin Scorcese’s Goodfellas.
    • Doc Brown goes back to 1885. This podcast contains minor spoilers for the Back to the Future trilogy.
    • Taxi was an American sitcom that ran from 1978-1982.
    • I lost my notes that I typed up while editing this (the few I just mentioned were from memory), so if I’ve missed anything important, leave a comment and I’ll add it.
  • The In-Joke Podcast #1

The very first In-Joke Podcast, in which the name is devised, Peter and Gavin describe themselves, and then proceed to natter on about all manner of things for 20 minutes.

    Notes

    • Peter and Gavin are, in real life, cousins. They live together in Brisbane, Australia, in a big green house.
    • They have worked on a number of projects together over the years. When they were both very young, they created superheroes called “The Superpersons”.
    • When they were 15, they got together to create a couple of stand-up characters, called the Chainsaw Blokes.
    • In their most recent project, a TV Pilot called “Robbie and Peter”, Peter plays a character called “Peter”. Gavin plays a character called “Gavin”, and in future episodes, Gavin’s character “Simon”.
    • “At The Movies” is an Australian movie review program, starring Margaret Pomeranz and David Stratton. Margaret is a female. Her voice is more fun to do.
    • This podcsat contains some minor spoilers for Iron Man.
    • Pepper Potts real name is “Virginia”
    • The word superhero is not of Germanic origins; Peter was thinking of Nietze’s concept of “Übermensch”, which translates into “Superman”. Nietze did not live in the 1500s. Peter was, in fact, bullshitting.
    • Both Peter and Gavin have livejournals. They can be found at the following addresses: Peter’s is the_zaniak, Gavin’s is poxy_report
    • If you don’t find the “funny story” very funny, please remember the name of the podcast.
    • Information about the trademark controversy surrounding “Ugg Boots” can be found at wikipedia.
    • The word “yankee” is used in Australia to refer to all Americans. When talking about the word’s historical origins, Peter may again be bullshitting.
    • George W. Bush’s secretary of state is Condoleezza Rice.
    • More information on Namco’s patent on minigames during loading screens can be found here.
